Bio

Daniel Tressel, composer and cellist, is an alumnus of Michigan State University, University of Nevada, and University of Illinois receiving degrees in both cello performance and music composition. He studied composition under Ricardo Lorenz and James Winn, and his principal cello teachers include Ko Iwasaki, Brandon Vamos, Emilio Colon, and Christopher Costanza.

As a composer, Daniel was named the 2011 winner of the Merle J. Isaac Composition Contest and has been commissioned recently by the Verdehr Trio, Jackson Symphony, and Livingston Symphony. A founding member of Duo Piacevole and the Armonia String Quartet he has performed and presented masterclasses throughout the U.S. and in China. He has served as principal cello of the Jackson Symphony and performed with the Reno Philharmonic, Lansing Symphony, and West Michigan Symphony. Previously a faculty member of Spring Arbor University, he currently teaches at Albion College.
